Blood Pressure Classification 🩺
Input your systolic and diastolic readings to determine your blood pressure category and pulse pressure.
Reference: ACC/AHA Blood Pressure Guidelines
The classification is based on the $\mathbf{2017 \text{ ACC}/\text{AHA}}$ Blood Pressure Guidelines for adults. Classification requires only one reading (Systolic or Diastolic) to meet the higher category threshold.
| Category | Systolic ($\text{mmHg}$) | and/or | Diastolic ($\text{mmHg}$) |
|---|---|---|---|
| **Normal** | Less than $120$ | AND | Less than $80$ |
| **Elevated** | $120-129$ | AND | Less than $80$ |
| **Hypertension Stage 1** | $130-139$ | OR | $80-89$ |
| **Hypertension Stage 2** | $\ge 140$ | OR | $\ge 90$ |
| **Hypertensive Crisis** | $\ge 180$ | AND/OR | $\ge 120$ |
The **Pulse Pressure ($\text{PP}$)** is calculated as $\mathbf{\text{Systolic} - \text{Diastolic}}$. A normal range is typically considered $\mathbf{40 - 60 \text{ mmHg}}$.
