What is Fitra?

Fitra is one Sa’a (~1.75–3.5 kg) of staple food (wheat, barley, dates, raisins) per person, including infants. It purifies the fast and feeds the poor on Eid.

Who Must Pay Fitra?

  • Every Muslim who has food beyond one day’s need
  • Pay on behalf of yourself + all dependents (children, elderly)
  • Even newborns — Fitra is due

When to Pay Fitra?

Best: Before Eid prayer
Allowed: From 28th Ramadan
Too late: After Eid prayer (becomes regular Sadaqah)

Can You Pay in Cash?

Yes — Hanafi, Shafi’i, Maliki, Hanbali schools allow cash equivalent of food value. Use local market rate.
