What is Fitra?
Fitra is one Sa’a (~1.75–3.5 kg) of staple food (wheat, barley, dates, raisins) per person, including infants. It purifies the fast and feeds the poor on Eid.

Who Must Pay Fitra?
- Every Muslim who has food beyond one day’s need
- Pay on behalf of yourself + all dependents (children, elderly)
- Even newborns — Fitra is due
When to Pay Fitra?
Best: Before Eid prayer
Allowed: From 28th Ramadan
Too late: After Eid prayer (becomes regular Sadaqah)
Can You Pay in Cash?
Yes — Hanafi, Shafi’i, Maliki, Hanbali schools allow cash equivalent of food value. Use local market rate.
Sample: Family of 5, Wheat, PKR 200/kg
- 1.75 kg × PKR 200 = PKR 350 per person
- 5 people × PKR 350 = PKR 1,750 total
- Pay to local mosque or poor before Eid
